In the past of 17 years, AU has demonstrated excellence in academic performance, and was ranked as the first in many higher education evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE). It was not only evaluated as the best among newly-established universities in Taiwan, but also granted honored projects from the MOE, the so-called Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities, for 12 years consecutively. Meanwhile, AU has earned international reputation by several world university rankings. In 2018, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings: Millennial Universities, AU was ranked the 31st in the world, making us the 1st place in Taiwan. Furthermore, AU was evaluated as the 191st in the THE’s Emerging Economies University Rankings, which is at 5th place among the private universities in Taiwan. In the THE’s Asia-Pacific University Ranking, AU was ranked between 181st – 190th.
To improve the quantity and quality of research outputs, Asia University has established various top-notch research centers that will lead the world by adopting emerging technology. Our research centers include the AI Research Center, the Center for Precision Medicine Research, the Institute of Innovation and Circular Economy, the Eye Center, the Big Data Research Center, the Research Center of Fintech and Blockchain Technology, the Food Safety and Inspection Center, the 3D Printing Medical Research Institute, the Center for Prevention and Treatment of Internet Addiction, and the Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms Research Center.
As a comprehensive university, AU also centers on creating an aesthetic campus and cultural atmosphere. Specifically, AU offers a space for teaching, research, and creation by inviting the world renowned architect, Tadao Ando, to design the Asia Museum of Modern Art in 2007, which was officially opened in 2013. As a legendary landmark in central Taiwan, the museum turns to be avenue for world-class exhibitions and an interacting platform for artists from local and abroad, which becomes a leading role in the cultural and creative industry in Taiwan.
